For Information & Inspiration

David Baldwin's Trauma-Info Pages

I still believe this is one of the most comprehensive and reliable sources of useful information for clients and professionals interested in finding out more about emotional trauma, its treatment, and the most recent research advances in the area. It is highly user-friendly and you will appreciate how frequently it is kept up-to-date. You can even subscribe to an e-mailing list for periodic updates. For those of you interested in mental health issues relevant to the Tsunami Disaster, Dr. Baldwin has once provided links to high-quality, late-breaking information.

National Child Traumatic Stress Network

"Over the past 20 years significant advances have been made in the field of child traumatic stress. This Network is a groundbreaking effort that blends the academic best practices of the clinical research community with the wisdom of front-line community service providers. The work of Network members ranges across settings, disciplines, age groups, and trauma types, delivering high quality services to large numbers of children and their families. The Network is committed to addressing the full spectrum of child trauma from a developmental and family-centered perspective and to helping children from every ethnic, socio-cultural, and economic background. "

National Center for PTSD

The National Center for Posttraumatic Stress Disorder is perhaps the largest government funded agency in the world dedicated to the research, treatment and program development in the area of PTSD, trauma and associated psychiatric conditions. Since it resides within the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, this resource is your first stop for finding experts in every area of war-related trauma: combat, sexual violence within the military, repatriated prisoners of war, medical conditions associated with veteran status and veterans surviving peacekeeping missions. As you might guess, the work of this Congressionally mandated consortium with sites on the East and West Coasts (and Hawaii too) far exceeds the consequences of war to include inititatives in post 9/11 terrorist responding, disaster interventions, and workplace violence.

Goessoftly's Web Page

You hurt my Hurt is the site of a retired therapist who has worked many years with severely emotionally disturbed, physically, sexually and psychologically abused children, teenagers and adults. Her area of special interest is DID/MPD ( Dissociative Identity Disorder/Multiple Personality Disorder). This website contains articles about different ways of approaching the healing process, whether as a survivor of adult or childhood abuse, or as a therapist. It may help you if you are looking for different options, a way to get unstuck, or a different perspective.
